Editor's Note

Pastor Saroja M

I greet you this month of June in the name of our dear Lord Jesus. June is a hectic month for parents and new beginnings for children. June is also a month of dark clouds and rains. But the silver lining is our God.

Isaiah 45: 2 –4 says, “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. For Jacob my servant's sake and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.”

Today your eye may not be able to see ‘treasures hidden in darkness and riches hidden in secret places’, but the Lord can give you this and exalt you. You may not understand this but the Lord has kept this for you alone. To seek the treasure we need a source of light. That light is the word of God.

His word is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. Psalms 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Not to stumble in the spiritual darkness we need not only the word of God but we need courage and confidence and faith in God, then only we can receive the hidden treasure.

The Psalmist says in Psalms 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

My beloved ones, today you may be living in fear for your ways may be surrounded by darkness. Our Lord will give you the riches hidden in darkness and lead you on. 2 Samuel 22:29 says, “For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.”

To receive the blessings which the Lord has kept for you, you must be able to fight and break all the hindrances.

Brass doors mean lack of faith and iron rods signify cowardliness.

The people of Israel came with gladness to Canaan, but the Jericho walls and its brass gates and iron bars stopped them. They were the promised people and having the strength of a unicorn but the question was how to break it. As per the Lord’s advice, they had to go round the city once a day for six days and on the seventh day to go round the city seven times and when the priests blew the trumpets the people shouted with a loud voice and the walls of Jericho fell down.

Beloved children, today many things may be bringing hindrances in your life. But praise the Lord loudly and you will not know where the brass doors and iron rods have blown away!

Micah 2:13 says,“The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them and the LORD on the head of them.”

Till the devil is present, the hindrances will be there but our God is alive. He will break it and make a way for you. You will be surprised. He will give you riches and treasures plentiful.

Beloved children of God, He will open the windows of heaven and pour His blessings. He is a mighty God. He will bless you. He has all power and authority.

The Lord shall open unto you His good treasure...the heavens to give rain to the land in His season and to bless all the work of your hand and you shall lend to many nations and shall not borrow.

God bless you - and all readers praise and glorify His name. Till we meet again.

Serve the Lord with Zeal

Message delivered by Pastor Saroja

Joel 2:15 “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly”.Any prayer, sacrifice or service made with zeal for our Lord is always fruitful and brings great blessings in our life. This secret is revealed by Prophet Joel in the above verse. Also David says in Psalm 85:6 “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” We have life, peace, joy, love and happiness in our lives graced only through our Lord God. God says if any of the above is missing in our life, if we are in sorrow or pain, remember our Lord God can revive us once again and it is He who brings back joy into our lives. These secrets are revealed by both Prophet Joel and the Psalmist David. Thus prayer, sacrifice, service made with zeal for our Lord brings blessings in our life. E.g. when the air in our car tyre is less, we need to once again pump in air into the tyre, so that the car may be driven at optimum speed. Similarly a revival in our lives is very important so that we can work with zeal for the Lord. After Jesus resurrected, his disciple Peter was filled with the same zeal. When Peter started his ministry and preached to the people with great zeal about the Lord, about 3000 – 5000 accepted the Lord and received their salvation. . Acts 2:39-42 “For the promise is unto you, and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers”. As David prays to God “Revive us once again”, in the same way after Jesus’ resurrection, Peter worked with great zeal amongst multitudes. Here we see his prayers and service for the Lord was well accepted by the multitudes. Acts 4:4 “Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand”.People accepted the Lord and were baptized; they partook in the Lord’s communion and became the Lord’s family. Their lives changed and they were blessed. Thus, even in our lives a prayer, service for the Lord made with great zeal, etc. will bear much fruits in our lives. We see here that Jesus’ disciples, after His resurrection once again started ministering to the multitudes and brought many to God’s saving Grace. Today, it is our time to serve the Lord of Hosts with the same zeal.

We see after Jesus’ resurrection, He has given us a great deal of independence in our lives. He has given us freedom from our sins, release sed us from bondage, healing from sickness etc. There are many things in life Jesus has given us deliverance from. Yet there are some things for which we need to fight and receive blessings from our Lord God. Just like Jacob fought with God and received his blessings and got his named changed to ‘Israel’, David too had to fight with God to win the country of Zion. Zion was in the hands of the Jebusites. Jebusites were the descendants of Canaan’s third son’s family. Lets read in Genesis 10:15-16 “And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth, And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite”.Though God has released many things for us in life today, He has kept some things with Him, which we should fight for to receive from Him. Likewise the Israelites had to fight for the land of Zion which was in the hands of the mighty Jebusites. These people appeared mighty and strong and the Israelites feared them. Then the Israelites reported back that to fight against these people is impossible as they appeared very strong and mighty. Numbers 13:27-29 “And they told him, and said, we came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and by the coast of Jordan”. We see further how David fought these enemies and made this country a ‘City of David’. Likewise even in our lives when things are not available easily, we have to fight, pray and serve the Lord with great zeal, to get victory in our life. 2 Samuel 5:7 “Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David”. The Israelites feared that Zion was surrounded by enemies from all sides. “The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and by the coast of Jordan”. While this was a country God had given to the Israelites, it was now occupied by the enemy. They thought it was impossible to get back this country into their hands, because the enemy seemed mighty and strong. After several years, David stubbornly fought with the enemies and with great zeal he pursued his fight and finally delivered this country into the hands of the Israelites and made this country a ‘City of David’. Many a times, we too need to fight with the Lord for many of our blessings in our life. Psalm 9:11 “Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings”. Even today the Lord God dwells in the city of David. Just as David won over the City of Zion, we too need to take the Word of God to various places to bring hope and salvation into peoples’ lives. We need to stubbornly pursue our service for the Lord, reach out to places of darkness and spread God’s eternal light. Many things God gives easily but some things we need to fight stubbornly for in order to receive it from the Lord. Only then we can reach the City of Zion. 2 Corinthians 2:14 “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place”. When we serve the Lord stubbornly, it is He alone who will manifest His knowledge in every place that we serve and give us victory. We should thank God abundantly for using us mightily and taking us from place to place to do His service and it is He who gives us triumph in all that we do. David could win the city of Zion, only because of the grace of God. Likewise whatever we do and in everything we do, it is only because of God’s grace that we get victory. Once, Elisha was attacked by the neighboring Kings who came to fight against him. Surrounded by armies from all four sides, his servant cries with fear “We are only two of us. The enemy has surrounded us from all sides, now what will happen to us”. Let us read in 2 Kings 6:14-17 “Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, alas, my master! How shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha”. At that time Elisha prays to God to open his servant’s spiritual eye that he may see the horses and chariots of fire of the Lord, surrounding the enemy. Many a times, we too behave similarly - we panic and we start screaming and shouting for help, not knowing that the Lord’s help is close at hand when we sincerely seek Him. Our zealous prayer and service for the Lord will never go in vain, but will reap rich blessings for us in our lives. Remember, for many things we have to fight with the Lord. Like Jacob wrestled with the Lord the whole night to get his blessings and Lord changed his name to ‘Israel’. Just as David also stubbornly fought the mighty and strong enemy and won over the ‘City of Zion’ which was a promised land for the Israelites. Likewise we too must remember that our service done with great zeal for the Lord in various places, when Lord God’s name is glorified and magnified amongst the gentiles, our service will bear great fruits for the Lord. Once we receive our salvation, we think that it is sufficient in our life to gain the Kingdom of God. No, that is not enough. Just as David fought stubbornly and with zeal to receive the blessings of the land of honey and milk, we too must fight stubbornly and with our prayers, sacrifice and service of zeal, we will receive our blessings too. Psalm 91:11-12 “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone”. Just as the Lord kept his army of angels and horses, chariots of fire around the mountain to save Elisha and his servant, similarly God gives His angels charge over us to protect us. Psalm 46:11 “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”. In this world we think many things may appear great, but its value always depreciates as time passes by. What is priceless for us in our life? The most priceless thing in our life is God’s wisdom. 1 Peter 3:3-4 “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”. We may not physically be the same as we were 15 years ago, we keep growing old and our beauty or strength will deteriorate. But when God is in our life, He beautifies our life. e.g. Even if a bride is adorned for the occasion, after sometime when she starts sweating her entire makeup sweats and is wiped off. This is the way of the world. Unlike this, our inner beauty cannot be touched by anyone. Our heart and the nature that overflows from it will never deteriorate. Thus our beauty should not be skin deep, but it should be soulful. 5:5 says “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth”. God sees our inner beauty and not the outward adorning. Job says in Job 28:18 “No mention shall be made of coral or quartz, for the price of wisdom is above rubies”. The most precious thing in our life is God’s wisdom. Rest, everything in this world, has a value according to the market fluctuations. But God’s wisdom is priceless in this world. To gain the Kingdom of God we need only God’s wisdom. Thus, every service done with zeal can help us conquer over this world. Proverbs 31:10 says “Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”We have seen that more that any precious stones, gold or silver, God’s wisdom is most precious and priceless in our life. Nobody can buy our God with material things, but we can conquer His Love only with a true heart.

Psalm 91:11-12 ?or he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone? Just as the Lord kept his army of angels and horses, chariots of fire around the mountain to save Elisha and his servant, similarly God gives His angels charge over us to protect us. Psalm 46:11 ?he LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah? In this world we think many things may appear great, but its value always depreciates as time passes by. What is priceless for us in our life? The most priceless thing in our life is God? wisdom. 1 Peter 3:3-4 ?hose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price? We may not physically be the same as we were 15 years ago, we keep growing old and our beauty or strength will deteriorate. But when God is in our life, He beautifies our life. e.g. Even if a bride is adorned for the occasion, after sometime when she starts sweating her entire makeup sweats and is wiped off. This is the way of the world. Unlike this, our inner beauty cannot be touched by anyone. Our heart and the nature that overflows from it will never deteriorate. Thus our beauty should not be skin deep, but it should be soulful. Mathew 5:5 says ?lessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth? God sees our inner beauty and not the outward adorning. Job says in Job 28:18 ?o mention shall be made of coral or quartz, for the price of wisdom is above rubies? The most precious thing in our life is God? wisdom. Rest, everything in this world, has a value according to the market fluctuations. But God? wisdom is priceless in this world. To gain the Kingdom of God we need only God? wisdom. Thus, every service done with zeal can help us conquer over this world. Proverbs 31:10 says ?ho can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.? We have seen that more that any precious stones, gold or silver, God? wisdom is most precious and priceless in our life. Nobody can buy our God with material things, but we can conquer His Love only with a true heart.

Mathew 13 : 45-46 ?gain, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it? Imagine that there is a piece of land used for farming: in the midst is precious treasure. We cannot touch that land, because we do not own the land. So to get that hidden treasure, we need to purchase that land. Only when we buy that piece of land, the treasure becomes ours. Likewise to enter the Kingdom of God we too need to sell the precious pearl just as the merchant sold the precious pearl and secured the Kingdom of God. Philippians 3:9-11 ?nd be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead? In this passage, Apostle Paul stubbornly served God with zeal, to reach the Kingdom of God. Prayer of zeal, service of zeal and sacrifice of zeal can win much for the Lord. God has given us everything: happiness, joy, peace, deliverance etc., but He has kept some things aside i.e. His Kingdom. We need to fight for the Kingdom of God. Like David fought for the land of Zion and made it a ?ity of David? Apostle Paul treated everything worthless... just to attain the Kingdom of God.

The people of this world live only to pursue material gains, but for us we need to pursue our precious and priceless God alone, who is a ?ign of Victory in our life? 1 Peter 1:19 ?ut with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot? 1 Peter 1:7 ?hat the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ? Thus when we put our Faith in God, this is the biggest gift in our life. 1 Peter 2:6 ?herefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded? Yes, those who put their faith in God will never lack anything in life. Every country has a Capital, a governing place i.e. a parliament, which makes the law for the country. As India? capital is New Delhi and USA? capital is Washington D.C. & Pakistan? capital is Islamabad. But our Capital is our Lord God, thus we must put our Faith and Trust in God alone. Isaiah 28:16 ?herefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste? God is our precious corner stone, those who put their Faith and Trust in Him will never be disappointed. People of this world put their Faith and Trust in the things of this world but we must put our Faith and Trust only in God. Only then we can enter God? Kingdom. Today is another chance that God had given all of us to repent and to turn to Him. Remember, what Jesus said to the robber on the Cross of Calvary ?oday you will be with me in Paradise? Remember how Jesus said to Zaccheus ? am coming to your house today? We have seen in the Holy Scriptures that whichever house Jesus visited became a blessed household. Jesus regularly visited the house of Martha and Mary, this household was also blessed. Today God tells us ? am with you always?- imagine how privileged we are. Isaiah 8:18 ?ehold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion? We see Prophet Isaiah? faith and he says ?e and my children, whom the Lord has given, will be a sign for the Lord of hosts? David says in Psalm 23:6 ?urely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever? Apostle Paul looking at Zion says in ?hilippians 3:20 ?or our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ? Our permanent place is not in this world, but it is in Heaven. God will come and take us along with Him. When God returns to pick up His elect from this world, He will come along with 144,000 of His own. Revelation 14:1 ?nd I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads? These 144,000 children are the ones who suffered in this world, but pursued with zeal to serve God, pray to Him and made sacrifices for the Lord in this world and finally won their victory to enter God? Kingdom. God has bestowed His Love upon us and given us everything freely. But still He has withheld some things that we need to stubbornly fight with Him and secure. Thus our prayer, sacrifice or service made with zeal for our Lord, will always be blessed and be fruitful and will bring great blessings in our life. So for you and me to be able to stand on Mount Zion and to be counted amongst the 144,000 elect of God to enter His Kingdom, we have to serve God with great zeal on this earth. In the times of Moses and David, God won many wars for them. But to gain the Kingdom of God, they both stubbornly fought in this world to gain their victory. Peter also served the Lord with great zeal after Jesus?resurrection and 3000-5000 souls received their salvation. Similarly, we too need to fight this world stubbornly to ultimately gain the Kingdom of God.

I pray that God bless this Word and that this message brings blessing into many lives.

Rose of Sharon Sunday-School
(Kalina, Mumbai)

All glory to God for our precious Sunday School children.

Each month we hear of one child in Sunday school ?about their special blessings and their special talents. This month we teachers would like to share about Keren Moses who is in Beginners Class in Sunday school. Keren is indeed a special child. She has the wonderful blessing of growing up in the presence of the Lord each dayŠeven as she lives at Rose of Sharon Ashram at Mira Road.

Keren is indeed very blessed. God has given her a melodious voice and she has a special talent of picking up songs and lyrics very quickly. Though in class she is quiet, she knows all songs and is always teaching new songs to the children at Sunday school. One of her favorite song is ?or Mother? love and Father? care.?

Keren is also a brilliant child ?a very special blessing from Jesus in her life. She is very bright in class and picks up lessons from the Bible very quickly and very well. She has always amazed us during her Bible exams - she is so well prepared and answers so perfectly ?it is difficult to give her anything less than full marks! That is really God? special grace and blessing in her life.

At a very early age in her life, her life is surrounded by the presence of God and service to the Lord. Keren loves to talk and interact with all the Ajjas and Ajjis at the Ashram and keeps them entertained and happy. She loves to serve them in her own small ways and is a source of great joy in their lives.

Our children at Sunday school are indeed blessed. They learn and have accepted a life with Jesus in their young age. They have learnt the fear of God; in the same way they know the love of JesusU they also know that whatever they need and dream of, they can go to Jesus and He will answer their prayers! Their testimonies each week are all such prayers answered.

Praise the Lord.

Rose of Sharon Sunday-School
(Bhilad, Gujarat)i

All glory to God as all the children in the Sunday school have passed with good marks and have been promoted to a higher class. With the onset of monsoons, June is here; a curious month for children as they move on to a higher grade of education. Most of us can recollect as a child being apprehensive about tougher studies and at the same time being excited to make new friends and impress the new teachers with home work and assignments done in a timely manner. The most enjoyable moments were to be playing with paper boats in puddles, purposely forgetting to carry our rain coats to school to get drenched in the rain and splashing muddy water on friends. The trend still continuesŠ

This month, we? like to share about a new entrant in our class. Shreya is about 12 years old and has been coming to Sunday school for the past 2 months regularly. She has been coming to the class on her own after one of her friends, who also is our student happened to casually invite her over to join our class. The exceptional thing about Shreya is that she loves to talk in English and she speaks the language very fluently. If I speak to her in Hindi, her replies come pat back in English. She aspires to be a teacher someday. At the beginning of the class, she greets everyone saying ??ood morning!?to which some bold ones in the class imitate in a restrained voice and say loudly ?hreya; ?raise the Lord!?bolo!?(Which translated means ?ay Praise the Lord!?.

It? really a pleasure to see these children learn more about Jesus, glorify His name and share testimonies which attract their friends to Church. This is truly an example for us to learn from. May the Lord continue to lift up the little ones for His glory.

Praise the Lord.

Rose of Sharon Old Age Home
Mira Road, Mumbai

Greetings to all our readers in the most holy and matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus of Nazareth! Welcome back once again to this edition of the monthly newsletter. The summer heat has been terrible, but with June we look forward to a respite from summer to enjoy the monsoons with cool and wet weather, the sweet fragrance of mud emitted by nature after the first rains… but most of all, we give all the glory to our Lord Jesus Christ for creating the cycle of seasons which no man can re-create or ever perfect.

I believe this section of the newsletter brings joy, cheer and great encouragement to all our readers after having delved into the lives of these dear resident grandpas and grandmas and how Lord Jesus has been working in their lives. With this belief, this time we share our experience from the life of Uncle Thankavellu S. Achari. Uncle Achari aged 79 years is from the border region of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He joined our home on February 2010 and has completed more than 2 years with the Rose of Sharon family. When he first came to the home, I was a little apprehensive as to how I would communicate with him since none of us in the home knew either Tamil or Malayalam & Uncle Achari knew only these two languages. But once he was in the home, God marvelously helped us to communicate with him, such that we started off by speaking basic essential words like food, water, bath, toilet in Malayalam. Soon God gave the grace and knowledge to form entire statements out of nowhere, though not perfect but as long as he understood that was important. Thank you Jesus!

Uncle Achari had rashes and a problem of dry skin when he first came to the home. He would scratch his body vigorously till it bled. I started applying the prayer oil daily after bath and by the end of seven days God completely healed him of his dry skin and scratching problem through the prayer oil. All glory to God alone for this healing.

Uncle Achari loves music: every morning we put gospel music in the home both in Hindi and English. Uncle Achari is great fan of the gospel singer Anil Kant’s songs and you can see him swaying to the beats of his song “Padhke Kalaam dekhlo””. There are many other catchy Anil Kant songs that he loves and if in the right mood you can see him dancing too, with the most wonderful smile on his face.

Uncle Achari is a patient of Asthma, but since the last 2 years, there has never been a time where we had to worry about his Asthma. Before coming to the home he used to suffer from convulsions too, but after coming to the home he has never experienced any convulsions. This is God’s grace in this Uncle’s life and we believe the same is for all those who enter the Rose of Sharon home. May the good Lord continue to be with this Uncle and give him a blessed stay in the Rose of Sharon old age home in Mira Road.

Praise the Lord.
